Welcome to Tailwind School. A social and emotional tool which aims to make the transition to high school (Year 7) easier for them. While building the following skills through engaging and interactive content:

  • Courage and self-assertive skills

  • Resilience

  • Social skills and emotional literacy

  • Adaptability and critical thinking

  • Reasoning and logic

Tailwind has been designed with Year 6 and 7 students in mind as a tool to aid with the transition between these years. It suits all student types and plays like a traditional RPG (role playing game). It has students collect items (collectables), gain information and resources and “fight” enemies to test their skills. At its core it uses the ideas of mindfulness and positive psychology to increase information to its users and allow them to overcome difficulty. Some of the areas that the game explores:

  • Calming techniques such as deep breathing

  • Mindfulness and being present

  • Fight or flight

  • Attuning to their senses and warning signs

On top of all these possible benefits, the game is completely free and comes with a parent guide (also suitable for teachers) to understand what the player is experiencing and if they need any assistance.

*The game is shared via Dropbox. There are 2 versions, one which is an EXE and one is a Zip File. You may use either. The EXE (is self-extracting) and therefore may cause errors with some antivirus. The other ZIP file will not have any issues however requires you to unzip it (export it/extract it) before use. Once either method is complete please open the “Game.exe” to start the game. If there are any issues please don’t hesitate to contact me.
